Luxury leather handcrafted zipped organiser inspired by vintage pieces from our collection.

The Henro Zipped Organiser is named after the Shikoku Pilgrimage, a pilgrimage to 88 temples associated with the Buddhist saint Kukai. The Henro is Japan’s most popular pilgrimage.

Pilgrims travel around Shikoku island, a 1400 kilometre trip, that takes up to to sixty days to complete. Every pilgrim carries a basic kit comprising essential daily items, which inspired us to design a zipped organiser that would be compact but large enough to carry items that we consider really useful on a daily basis.

Henro is a hybrid design, a 4 loop pen case that also includes space for a B6 slim size notebook or a smartphone, passport, other documents and card slots. The depth (3 cm) was calculated to accommodate the contents it was designed for without bulging.

Includes 4 pen loops sized for fountain pens, 3 inside pockets, 1 outer card pocket (for public transport cards for example), zip closure to keep the contents secure.

Finest full grain vegetable-tanned Tochigi leather that will age beautifully and feels fantastic in use, top of the range YKK Excella zipper.

Handmade in Japan by skilled craftsmen.

This zipped organiser is designed to be practical and a joy to use for many years, whether you use it for work, travel or journaling.

We use a carefully selected, full grain, vegetable-tanned, lightly oiled leather of the highest quality from the famous Tochigi tannery in Japan.

This fine-grained leather has an almost silky feel, to it and outstanding colour depth. Vegetable-tanned leather acquires a patina with use and exposure to light. The natural variant especially, will darken to a golden honey colour. Vegetable-tanned leathers are more durable than chrome-tanned ones.

Initially, the leather may seem a bit stiff, it will soften with use and the pen loop will stretch to accommodate your favourite fountain pen.

Vegetable tanning is a chemical-free, environmentally friendly tanning method, which also allows the original appearance of the hide to show through. Veins, scratches and other marks from the original hide may be visible. These are not defects, but natural characteristics that add to the beauty of the material. Please see our mineral-tanned French taurillon leather range if you prefer a more stable appearance.

Avoid prolonged exposure to sunlight and humidity. Store in a well-aired, non humid environment.
If wet, allow it to dry away from heat sources.
Apply a thin layer of leather conditioner once or twice per year. We do not recommend products containing silicones or other synthetic substance, since they do not allow the leather to breathe. We also do not recommend waterproofing the leather for the same reason.
Scratches may be partially or completely buffed out using a very small quantity of leather balm and a soft cloth.
Water stains and other marks: vegetable-tanned leather will acquire stains more easily than mineral-tanned leathers, stains may be partially hidden when the leather darkens. Do not try to clean with water, alcohol or soap (including saddle soap).
